A.C.W. –
Anglican Church Women are a social and working group active in all
aspects of Christian service. Meetings are held once a month in
the evenings, at the church.
Advisory Board
– This consists of elected and ex-officio members who advise the rector
and wardens on all parish affairs.
Altar Guild
– The members of the Altar Guild are responsible for maintenance,
arrangement and appearance of elements required for the worship
services.
Auditors
– At Vestry time, it is necessary for the financial records of the
church to be audited and this is done by suitable members of the parish.
Baptism
Co-ordinator – When a child is baptized in the church, the
co-ordinator liaises with the parents and the parish priest.
Carpenter’s
Chronicle – This is a parish newsletter produced 3 times per year
for the enjoyment of the members of the congregation who are encouraged
to submit committee reports and interesting articles.
Carpenter’s
Club – This is a men’s social club which provides fun and
fellowship, but is also called upon to work on projects which will
enrich the entire parish.
Casserole Corp
– This group of volunteers provide meals for parish families in crisis.
Choir
– Members of the congregation who love to sing lead the congregation in
hymns and praises. Practices are led by the choir director once
per week. Lots of new adventures in music are taking place!
Church School
– Teachers and caregivers provide Christian education for the children
during the 10:30 a.m. service. Children begin by attending the
service with their parents, then proceed to their class as a group, and
then return to church for communion.
Dance Squad -
a group of young people from the Church school and Youth group who
"dance God's praises" during special occasions in the church.
Education
Committee – This committee co-ordinates and delivers Christian
education programmes for spiritual and intellectual nourishment of our
adult congregation.
Envelope
Secretary – This ministry is responsible for the recording of
weekly offerings of the congregation.
Fundraising
Committee - This is a group of energetic people who plan and
organize various fundraising projects involving the whole parish.
Gardeners
– The church gardens are beautified and maintained by this group.
Greeters
– This is a rotating group of people who greet at the door before
Sunday services.
Hospitality
Committee – This busy committee organizes, provides and serves food
at special events, lunches and parties at the church.
Intercessors
– The “prayers of the people” during the 10:30 service are led by
members of the congregation.
Lay Assistants
– The priest is assisted by Lay Assistants during the worship services.
Maintenance
Committee – This committee is charged with getting repairs,
painting and general maintenance completed in the church building.
Nominating
Committee – During the year this committee familiarizes itself with
members of the congregation who might be interested in taking on
positions of responsibility. The results of this are then
presented at the annual Vestry meeting.
Outreach
Committee – Outreach is a big part of the life of St. Joseph’s, and
this committee co-ordinates delivery of programmes impacting the
community nearby, and also the wider community in Africa and the
Caribbean.
Prayer Chain
– This group of prayerful people pray for people in distress, upon
request.
Readers
– The lessons during Sunday services are read by this organized group.
Seniors and
Homebound - A committee has been set up to visit, by telephone or
in person, seniors and parishioners who are homebound but would like to
keep in touch with the parish.
Servers Guild
– This is a group of young people who assist the priest during Sunday
services.
Sidespeople
– A variety of duties essential to the Sunday worship are handled by
members of the congregation.
Stewardship
Committee – “Using all the gifts God gives us to do the work God
gives us to do” is co-ordinated by this group, using the human and
material resources of the parish.
Synod
Representatives – These members of the parish represent St.
Joseph’s as lay members of Synod (the governing body of the
diocese.
Treasurer
– The financial transactions of the church are recorded professionally
by the Treasurer.
Wednesday
Morning Group – For lack of a better name, this group attends the
weekly Wednesday morning service which is followed by a social
time.
Youth Group – Our young people, aged 12 and up, form this group which meets bi-monthly at the church and is involved in many aspects of the life of the parish. Please visit their web page.
